Loh Mee
This is a special mee in sticky starchy sauce. Another hawker favourite which you either like or dislike. The "loh" is the sticky sauce (I think it's slimy!) but mixed with chilly and fried shallots, it is quite a different taste and feel as the noodle slide down your palate!

Penang Hokkien Prawn Mee
This is a special noodle dish in a prawn based soup. It's the soup that makes the difference, the sweet prawny essence with the spicy chili sauce packs a kick. Now that beats tea and toast for breakfast anytime!

ABC/ Ice Kacang
Air Batu Campur (ABC in malay it means mixed ice) is fantastic as a desert on a hot day...which is everyday here.
This in my opinion is the best Ice Kacang in Penang, in Swatau lane. The speciality is the extra fruits you can add in ... jackfruit (nangka), papaya(paw paw), bananas, etc. Really hits the spot on a hot day.The top picture is without the fruits, the bottom one has fruits covering the already plentiful ingredients. Please don't think the stuff you eat at the hotel is a real ice kacang till you have tried this! And it costs only 3 ringgit for the works!

This is my favourite ice kachang place, just behind the Giant supermarket along Burma road. You can add extra fruits like banana, jack fruit, papaya and mango which makes this a very refreshing desert. Surprisingly you can get a very nice bowl of Ice Kachang for only rm3!

Sar Hor Fan
Oh, my god!I feel hungry again! Sar Hor Fun needs to be eaten hot, with the egg still cooking in the sauce. Wait 10 minutes and the starchy sauce becomes like glue! So fresh Sar Hor Fun with bee hoon and that slightly burnt taste really hits the spot when you are famished!

Stir Fried noodles in a seafood gravy sauce . Hmm I find it hard to describe except it's very tasty!

Literally fried flat noodles, this dish is surprisingly delicious. The noodles are first stir fried till it is a little burnt. Then the sauce is added. Make sure you ask for an egg with it. Over at Bee Hooi restaurant in Pulau Tikus I like their Sar Hor Fun at night. A generous serving with the slightly burnt Hor Fun taste. It only costs RM3.
